CTET Eligibility Criteria 2021: The applicants who are willing to appear in the CTET 2021 exam should satisfy all the eligibility conditions. Candidates can check eligibility requirements from the official website as well as from this article. Only those candidates who found themselves eligible to appear in the CTET exam as per the eligibility criteria prescribed for the exam should proceed for making an online application. UPDATE: The CTET December 2021 exam notification has been released. The application form is available online from 20th September 2021. Candidates can apply till the last date of the application form i.e. 19th October 2021. The entrance exam is scheduled to be held from 16th December 2021 to 13th January 2022.

CTET Eligibility Criteria 2021

Aspirants should meet the following eligibility conditions to appear in the CTET 2021 entrance test. The minimum basic eligibility criteria for CTET, are as under:

Eligibility Criteria for Becoming Teacher at Primary Level (Class I to V)

  • 12th Class (Intermediate) or its equivalent exam with securing at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of two-year diploma in elementary education. OR
  • Senior Secondary or its equivalent exam with securing at least 45% marks aggregate and completed or appearing in the final year of two-year diploma course in elementary education as per NCTE Regulations 2002. OR
  • 12th Class (Intermediate) or any equivalent exam with at least 50% marks and qualified or appearing in the final year of four years Bachelor of Elementary Education. OR
  • Candidate must have completed 12th (Intermediate) or its equivalent exam obtaining at least 50% marks and completed or appearing in the final year of two-year diploma programme of Education (Special Education). OR
  • A Graduate or appearing in the final year of a two-year diploma programme in Elementary Education.

Eligibility Criteria for Becoming Teacher at Elementary Level (Class VI to VIII)

  • Any Graduate and passed or pursuing the final year of 2-year diploma in elementary education. OR
  • Candidates should hold a graduation degree with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.) one-year programme. OR
  • Candidate having graduation degree with at least 45% marks and completed or appearing in one year B.Ed. programme as per NCTE Rules and Regulations. OR
  • 12th (senior secondary) Passed or equivalent exam with minimum 50% marks and completed or appearing in last year of four years Bachelor in Elementary Education. OR
  • Intermediate (12th) or its equivalent exam with at least 50% marks and completed or appearing in last year of a four-year programme of B.A. or B.Sc.Ed./B.Sc.Ed./ B.A. Ed. OR
  • A Graduate with minimum 50% marks and completed or appearing in B.Ed. one year programme (Special Education).

Points to be noted

  1. Candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled will get relaxation up to 5% in the qualifying marks in the minimum Educational Qualification to appear in the CTET 2021 exam.
  2. Diploma/Degree Course in Teacher Education should be recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). However, Diploma in Education (Special Education) and B.Ed. (Special Education) recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) will also be considered.
  3. Candidate with D.Ed. (Special Education) or equivalent qualifying shall undergo through 6-month Special Programme in Elementary Education recognized by NCTE.
  4. The above-mentioned minimum qualifications are applicable to the teachers of Languages, Social Studies/Social Science, Mathematics, Science etc. For teachers of Physical Education, the minimum qualification norms referred to in NCTE Regulation, dated 3rd November 2001 (as amended from time to time) shall be applicable.
  5. However, for teachers of Art Education, Craft Education, Home Science, Work Education, etc. the available eligibility norms laid down by the State Governments and School Management shall be applicable till such time the NCTE lays down the minimum qualifications in respect of such teachers.

Note:

Those who are not satisfying the CTET eligibility criteria 2021 as mentioned above, shall not be eligible to appear in CTET 2021 entrance test. Candidates should check eligibility requirements before applying online and the candidate should only be responsible for any consequence if he/she is found ineligible. Appearing in the CTET exam does not mean that the candidate is eligible to become a teacher. Eligibility will be checked by the concerned recruiting agency/appointing authority later after completion of the exam.

  1. I have completed 12th class with 49/% in 1987. Graduation with 50% in 1991 and B.Ed with 55% in 1995. My age is 48. Am I eligible for ctet 2019?

  2. I have completed my P.U with 55% and also going to write the D.El.Ed final year exam in the month of March 2019. Shall I able write the CTET or not ? I am in confuse.

  3. i have completed my B.sc , MECS in 2008 , completed MBA in IT in correspondance and worked in the IT sector as software engineer for 5 years till 2014. now after a meternity gap of 4+ years i want to start my career in teaching. I am not getting clarity if i am eligible for CTET exam in 2019. could you please confirm me on the same .
