BSMS Admission 2021 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates should fulfil the basic eligibility norms in order to get admission to the BSMS course. Here are the guidelines for BSMS eligibility criteria below:

  • The applicants should have completed 10+2 from a recognized school/institute with a science stream.
  • Minimum 50% aggregate marks required in the subject of Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  • Reserved category candidates can seek relaxation in marks for admission in the Bachelor of Siddha Medicine & Surgery (BSMS) course as per the rules.
  • The applicants must have Tamil as one of the subjects in the 10th class or in the higher secondary course.

  • The Ministry of AYUSH will conduct counselling for 15% of All India Quota seats while the state will conduct 85% state quota seats.

  • Siddha Maruthuva Adippadai Thathuvangalum Varalarum [History and Fundamental Principles of Siddha Medicine];
  • Tamil Language or Communicative English (wherever applicable);
  • Uyir Vedhiyiyal (Bio-Chemistry);
  • Maruthuva Thavaralyal (Medicinal Botany and Pharmacognosy); and
  • Nunnuyiriyal (Micro Biology).

Second Professional Syllabus

  • Udal Koorugal (Anatomy) Paper I;
  • Udal Koorugal (Anatomy) Paper-II;
  • Udal Thathuvam (Physiology) Paper I;
  • Udal Thathuvam (Physiology) Paper-II;
  • Siddha Maruthuva Mooligai Ariviyal (Siddha Medicinal Herbal Science); and
  • Siddha Maruthuva Kanima, Kanima vethiyal and Siddha Maruthuva Vilangiyal (Siddha Medicinal Geology, Medicinal Chemistry and Medicinal Zoology).

  • Noi Naadal -Paper I (Siddha Pathology);
  • Noi Naadal -Paper-II (Principles of Modern Pathology);
  • Noi Anugavidhi Ozhukkam (Hygiene and Community Medicine including National Health Policies and Statistics);
  • Sattam Saarntha Maruthuvamum Nanju Maruthuvamum (Forensic Medicine and Toxicology);
  • Research Methodology and Medical-statistics.

Fourth Professional Syllabus

  • Maruthuvam (Medicine);
  • Varmam, Puramaruthuvam and Sirappumaruthuvam (Varmam Therapy, External Therapy and Special medicine);
  • Aruvai, Thol Maruthuvam (Surgery including dentistry and Dermatology);
  • Sool, Magalir Maruthuvam (Obstetrics and Gynaecology); and
  • Kuzhanthai Maruthuvam (Paediatrics).

Compulsory Rotatory Internship: After passing all the subjects, the students have to join a compulsory internship programme. The duration of the internship will be one year.

BSMS Admission Process

The aspirants have to go through certain steps in order to get admission to the BSMS programme. As mentioned above, candidates having 12th standard completed with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subject can apply for BSMS Course. Tamil must be one of the subjects in the 10th standard. The applicants need to appear in National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) and must obtain minimum qualifying marks. The NEET qualified candidates have to attend the counselling process for getting final admission.

During the counselling process, candidates have to register online on the official counselling portal. Based on merit or NEET score, the competent authority will prepare a merit list and meritorious candidates will be issued provisional seat allotment letters. The applicants have to report to the allotted college within the specified time frame. The college authority will verify all the original documents to ascertain the eligibility of candidates. After documents verification, final admission will be done. Candidates must follow all the instructions given by the concerned authority.
