PM Yoga Awards 2021-22: Application Form, Eligibility, Selection Process

PM Yoga Awards 2021: The application forms for Prime Minister’s Yoga Awards on the occasion of IDY 2021, are invited by the Government of India for exceptional work in the field of Yoga. The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India has been passionately working with the vision to promote Yoga worldwide from its inception. The International Day of Yoga (IDY) is one of such event which has been recognized globally and entire world celebrates 21st June every year as International Yoga Day. The main objective to celebrate the International Day of Yoga worldwide is to teach people benefits of ancient practice of Yoga and to make general awareness about public health and wellness. The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India facilitates the institutions, unsung heroes and achievers of the domain of Yoga on the occasion of International Day of Yoga.

There are two categories of awards at National and International level. The Individuals and Organizations, who/which have made a significant impact on the society, for a sustained period by developing and promoting the Yoga will be recognized on IDY event. However, candidates who are meeting the prescribed eligibility conditions need to submit application form to the concerned platform. The details regarding the prestigious Prime Minister’s awards for outstanding contribution towards the Development and promotion of Yoga at National & International Levels are given herein below.

PM Yoga Awards 2021: Categories

As mentioned above, there are to two categories i.e. National and International. Candidates/institutions can apply as per the eligibility. These categories are as under:

National: In this category, two national awards will be awarded to the entities of Indian origin, for their outstanding contribution towards development and promotion of Yoga.

International: The two International Awards will be given to the entities of Indian or foreign origin for their outstanding contribution towards development and promotion of Yoga globally.

Nomenclature of the Yoga Awards

On the occasion of IDY 2016, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India announced awards to facilitate the individuals or organizations which are working to popularize yoga throughout the globe. These two awards are as:

– Prime Minister’s award for outstanding contribution towards promotion and development of Yoga at National Level (2 awards)

– Prime Minister’s award for outstanding contribution towards promotion and development of Yoga at International Level (2 awards)

Announcement of the Awards

  • On 21st June 2021 i.e. the 7th International Day of Yoga, name of the winners will be declared.
  • A cash award, Certificate and Trophy will be given to the winners.
  • The value of cash prize would be Rs.25/- lakh each.
  • In case of joint winners, cash prize would be divided amongst the winners.

How to Apply for PM Yoga Award 2021-22?

  • First of all everyone must go through the guidelines for submitting application form.
  • The application duly filled and complete in all respect can be submitted.
  • An individual or an organization working in the domain of Yoga can apply for this award.
  • All the eligible candidates/organization can proceed to submit application form for Prime Minister’s Yoga Awards.
  • The proposal/applications can submit through https://innovateindia.mygov.in/pm-yoga-awards/.
  • However, applications can also be submitted directly to the Ministry of AYUSH in prescribed format.
  • An applicant can apply for only one award category that is either National Award or International Award.

Eligibility Criteria for PM Yoga Award 2021

The Individuals/prominent organizations who have made an important and significant contribution towards promotion and development of Yoga can apply.

In this regard, the nominees/applicants should have robust knowledge of Yogic Practices for applying to these awards.

Screening Committee

Ministry of AYUSH constitutes a screening committee which examines all the applications/nominations received in the Ministry for PM Yoga Award.

  • The Screening Committee shall consider all the applications/nominations that are received in the Ministry of AYUSH.
  • The committee shall recommend a list of 50 names for category of awards i.e. National and International.

PM Yoga Awards 2021-22: Evaluation Committee

The Jury or Evaluation Committee shall comprise of 7 members including a Chairperson. The committee shall have eminent personalities from the different walks of life, which shall be constituted by the Ministry of AYUSH every year. The names selected by the screening committee will be considered by the Jury. The following 4 official members will be part of Evaluation Committee (Jury):

Cabinet Secretary The Chairman
Additional Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Member
Foreign Secretary Member
Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH Member Secretary

The other three non-official members may be nominated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Contribution in the field of Yoga for its development and promotion.
  • Impact on the general public by way of strengthening their mental, physical and spiritual health.

Guidelines for Evaluation

  • The Evaluation Committee would be the final decision-making authority for both the National and International categories of awards.
  • The Jury has the right to nominate any applicant/organization.
  • If any Jury member’s close relative submits the application for PM award then he/she will be ineligible to become part of Jury.
  • All the jury members shall maintain strict confidentiality regarding the entire selection process or meetings.
  • The jury members will be given a copy of the eligibility documents submitted by the applicant(s).
  • All the meetings to be conducted by the Jury will be held at New Delhi.
  • Each meeting of the jury will be recorded and the minutes will be signed by all the jury members.
  • If Jury member finds any difficulty to attend meeting then he/she can convey it in writing to the Chairperson.
  • The Chairperson of the Evaluation Committee (Jury) may seek advice of experts in specialized areas, whenever necessary.
  • Any correspondence or appeal regarding the decision of the Jury shall not be entertained and decision of the jury shall be final.
  • The Jury has right to decide its own procedure or practice for finalizing the awards every year.

International Day of Yoga

General Terms and Conditions

  • An Applicant will be disqualified for life if it is found that they are influencing the jury or its any member by way of sending e-mails, making calls, writing letters and approaching in person or any other similar activity in this regard. The work of such disqualified persons would be eligible for consideration of these prestigious awards.
  • If any information found to be incorrect false or wrong, the applicants can also be disqualified for a period of 3 years.
  • All the information provided by the applicants will be deemed confidential and it will be considered for determining eligibility of the applicant.
  • While filling up the application form, the organization should ensure that e-mail address, mobile number, fax number and postal address are duly filled.
  • The last date of applying to these awards shall be 30th April 2021 and Ministry has rights to reject any proposal or application received after the due date of submission.
  • Ministry of AYUSH may seek clarification on eligibility criteria.
  • Grievances, if any, shall be addressed by the Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India and the decision of Secretary, AYUSH in the matter shall be final and binding.
