AILET 2022: Application Form, Eligibility, Syllabus, Exam Dates

AILET 2022: All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) is an important exam for the students who are seeking courses like B.A. LL.B (Hons.), LL. M. And Ph. D. Programmes. National Law University (NLU), Delhi conducts the AILET entrance exam. It is an all India level entrance exam. Note: The above-mentioned dates in the table are tentative. The exam schedule may change as per the wish of competent authority. However, on the basis of the schedule given above, the candidate can start preparation.

AILET Eligibility Criteria

Candidates are required to check the eligibility criteria before making an application for AILET 2022 exam. One, who is found ineligible at any stage of the examination, his/her candidature will be cancelled immediately. Aspirants can check the following criteria:

For B.A. LL. B. (Hons.)

  • The candidate should have completed the intermediate (10+2) exam or its equivalent exam from a recognised board.
  • He/she should have obtained 50% marks aggregate.
  • The age of the candidates must not exceed 20 years as of 1st July 2022 (22 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST category).
  • The candidates who are appearing in the final year of the qualifying exam will also be eligible subject to the outcome of their result.

For LL. M. Course

  • Applicants must hold an LL. B. Degree or its equivalent law degree from a recognised university/institute.
  • He/she should have scored a minimum 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC/ST or PwD candidates)
  • Candidates appearing in the final year of the LL.B. programme will also be eligible.

For Ph. D. Programme

  • Candidates must be an LL. M. Degree holder.
  • He/she should have secured at least 55% marks (50% marks in case of candidate belonging to SC/ST/PwD category.)

AILET 2022 Application Form

The AILET 2022 application form will be available on the official website of National Law University, Delhi. Candidates can apply for AILET via online mode from January 2022 onwards. The registration process needs to be completed first. Thereafter, candidates are required to fill in all the details asked in the application form. All the information provided by the candidates should be correct in all respect. To complete the application making process, candidates need to pay the required application fee. There is no need to send a hard copy of the application to the university.

Application Fee

  • All the unreserved category candidates are required to pay Rs.3000/- as an application fee.
  • SC/ST candidates and Persons with Disability (PwD) need to pay only Rs.1000/-.
  • Payment can be made through Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card.

Reservation of seats

The seats are reserved for different categories as per the prescribed norms. The reservation of seats is as per the following manner:

  • General category candidates- 75%
  • SC category candidates       – 15%
  • ST category candidates       – 7.5%
  • Persons with Disability        – 2.5%

AILET Exam Pattern

All the candidates must be conversant with the pattern of the exam. Check the AILET 2022 exam pattern listed below:

  • The question paper of the AILET exam will comprise 150 questions.
  • Each question will carry 1 mark.
  • The exam duration will be 90 minutes.
  • The syllabus of the exam will include General Knowledge, Legal Aptitude, Reasoning and Elementary Mathematics.
  • Candidates who are appearing for the LL.M. programme will have questions based on Legal Aptitude.

Syllabus

  • The syllabus of the exam will be available on the official website of NLU.
  • Candidates can check the syllabus from the website. The syllabus for each course will be slightly different.
  • Candidates seeking B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) course will have to face questions on General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Reasoning and Numerical Ability, Legal Aptitude.
  • For the LL.M. course, questions will be derived from Constitutional Law, Law of Torts, Law of Contracts, Criminal Law and Legal Theory.

AILET 2022 Admit Card

The admit card for AILET 2022 exam will be issued to the eligible candidates probably in the month of April 2022. Candidates can download the admit card from the official website of the university. The admit card will contain crucial information regarding exam date, exam centre, roll number etc. Candidates must bring admit card on the day of examination otherwise entry in the exam centre will not be permissible.

AILET 2022 Result

The result of the AILET 2022 exam will be announced probably in the month of June 2022. Candidates, who have appeared in the entrance exam, can check their results on the official website of the National Law University. A merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by the applicants. For final admission, successful candidates will go through counselling process.

AILET Counselling 2022

  • Following the declaration of the result of the AILET 2022 entrance exam, meritorious candidates will be invited to attend the counselling.
  • Candidates have to appear in the counselling otherwise they will not be considered for admission.
  • The counselling will commence probably in the month of July 2022.
  • Final admission will be made on the basis of merit, the number of seats available and subject to verification of the original documents.
