The National Tourism Day is celebrated on 25th January every year. The aim of celebrating tourism day in the country is to educate people about the diversity of India. The Ministry of Tourism celebrated tourism day 2021 virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic. There were a series of seminars conducted by the Ministry from 21st January to 22nd February. Let’s celebrate this day in a spirit to explore the vast diversity of India.

National Tourism Day: History

There is an ambiguity over the inception of National Tourism Day. However, based on available facts, the Tourist Traffic Group was formed in the year 1948 to encourage tourism in the Country. The regional offices of the company were established in Mumbai and Delhi. However, the number of offices was opened in Chennai and Kolkata locations in the year 1951.

Later in the year 1958, the Ministry of Tourism and Communication was formed for the development of the tourism sector and to recognise the potential of the tourism sector in the economy of the Country.
