Mother’s Day: History

It is believed that Mother’s day celebration first started from US, when a woman named Anna Jarvis wanted to a special day to be celebrated as mother’s day because her own mother had expressed such a desire. Later in the year 1905, United States recognised holiday for celebrating a special day for mothers.

Why Mother’s Day is celebrated on 2nd Sunday of May?

Anna Jarvis’s mother was died on 9th may and three years after Ann’s death, the first mother’s day was celebrated in the Andrews Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia.
