IBPS PO 2018: Application Form, Eligibility, Exam Pattern


IBPS PO 2018:  The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is a recruitment body which has the control for selecting eligible candidates in all Public Sector Banks, NABARD, SIDBI, State Bank of India and its associate banks, Reserve Bank of India etc. The recruitment notification for selection of candidate for Probationary Officer/Management Trainee will be released in the month of July, 2018. The application form will be submitted through online mode only. Aspirants who are willing to join banking sector as a Probationary Officer can fill the application form for IBPS PO 2018 exam.

IBPS PO 2018 Eligibility Criteria

Candidate who are planning to appear in the IBPS PO 2018 examination, should meet the eligibility requirements. The basic minimum eligibility criteria for IBPS PO are listed below:


  • An Indian citizen or subject of Nepal or Bhutan will be eligible to appear in the IBPS PO examination.

Educational qualification

  • A graduation degree holder in any discipline from a recognized university will be eligible.
  • Candidate must possess the certificate of the graduation level exam.

Age Limit

  • Minimum age of the candidate should be 20 years and maximum age should be 30 years as on 01.07.2018.
  • Age relaxation will be granted to the eligible candidate of reserved category as per the rules.
  • Date of birth written on High School (10th) certificate will be considered for calculation of age criteria.

IBPS PO 2018 Application Form

  • Candidates, who are meeting the eligibility requirements for IBPS PO 2018 examination, should fill the online application form.
  • The application form will be available on IBPS official website i.e. htttp://www.ibps.in/.
  • Application can be made via online mode only.
  • Candidate should own a valid e-mail ID for correspondence.
  • Before applying online, scan the passport size photograph and signature for uploading with application form.
  • All the details should be filled carefully and correctly.

Note: To avoid last hour rush, apply well within the stipulated time frame and do not wait for last date.

Application Fee

For making IBPS PO 2018 online application, candidate need to pay the application fee. The application fee of Rs.600/- are required to pay. However, candidate of SC/ST/PWD/Ex-Servicemen category have to pay only Rs.100/- as application fee. Payment can be made through NET Banking, Debit Card/Credit Card.

IBPS PO 2018 Exam Pattern

The Selection Board will organize the Preliminary Examination for IBPS PO 2018. Qualified candidate of preliminary exam will be called for Main Exam. The medium of the exam will be bilingual i.e. Hindi and English. Shortlisted candidate on the basis of pre-exam, will have to appear in Main Exam. The exam pattern for both Preliminary and Main exam is as under:

  • Penalty for wrong answer will be imposed and 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong attempt.
  • The IBPS has the power to change or modify the examination pattern. Candidates are required to check the official website time to time for updates and information.
Selection Procedure

All the aspirants should know the selection procedure of IBPS PO exam. Candidates have to go through three stages for final selection. These stages are:

  • First Stage: Preliminary Exam i.e. Written Exam
  • Second Stage: Main Exam i.e also a Written Exam
  • Third Stage: Personal Interview
Admit Card

Before IBPS PO 2018 examination, the Selection Board will issue the admit card to eligible candidates. The candidates can avail the admit card from the official website only. Hard copy of admit card will not be sent to any individual by post. The admit card will contain the information regarding exam centre and exam date. To appear in the examination, candidate must carry admit card along with photo identity proof.

IBPS PO 2018 Result

The result for written exam will be declared and uploaded on the official website at appropriate time. Qualified candidates of the Preliminary Exam, will have to appear in the Main Exam. Successful candidate will be called to attend interview. Accordingly, result will be announced after overall assessment of the exam.

Cut-off Score

The candidates have to secure minimum marks in every section of the paper. The cut-off marks for IBPS PO 2018 will be set by IBPS on the basis vacancies available. Those who obtain the qualified marks in each section of the Preliminary Exam, will be invited to appear in IBPS PO Main Exam.  Shortlisted candidate on the basis of marks obtained in the Main Exam will have to go through interview process.  Accordingly, final merit list will be disclosed.

Selection Process and Provisional Allotment

Examination will be completed in three stages i.e. Preliminary Exam, Main Exam and Interview. The candidate who will qualify all these three stages, will be selected. However, merit list will be prepared on the basis of score obtained in Main Exam and Interview. Candidate will selected for provisional allotment to one of the participating bank/organization according to vacancies available.
