BHU PET Eligibility Criteria 2019: The Banaras Hindu University conducts an entrance examination for admission in its PG programmes. The entrance test is also known as BHU PET. All the aspirants who want take admission in PG Courses in BHU need to go through BHU PET. To appear in the entrance test, the candidate should meet minimum basic eligibility requirements prescribed by the BHU. The BHU runs various PG courses and each course eligibility criteria are different. Apart from meeting eligibility conditions to appear in the entrance test, the candidates also need to qualify the entrance test for final admission in the desired course. BHU PET Eligibility Criteria 2019: Course-wise Details

Candidates should ensure their eligibility to appear in the BHU PET 2019 entrance test before making an online application form. Each course has different criteria hence, the candidate should check the eligibility criteria for the concerned course. The course-wise eligibility criteria are given below:

Faculty of Arts

Name of the Courses: M.A. in Hindi, English, Mathematics, Home Science, Philosophy, Geography, Statistics#, Urdu, Bengali, Kannada,  Sanskrit**, AIHC & Arch.++ (Ancient Indian History, Culture & Archaeology)

Educational Qualification: B.A./B.A.(Hons.) of 3 years duration with minimum 50% marks aggregate. Candidate should have the subject in which they want to take admission in B.A./B.A.(Hons.).

Course Duration– 2 years.

Note:

  • #For admission in MA Statistics, the candidate should have mathematics at Graduation level.
  • **Shastri (Hons.) shall eligible to take admission in M.A. Sanskrit.
  • ++For admission in M.A. (Ancient Indian History), the candidate should have the subject at graduation level.

Faculty of Social Science

Name of the course: M.A. in Linguistics

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor degree with 50% marks aggregate.
  • A candidate who has PG degree in any language among Philosophy, Literature, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Computer Science and Mathematics with at least 50% marks aggregate in each Graduation and Post-graduation is also eligible

Course Duration –2 Years

Name of the Course: M.A. in Arabic, German, French, Persian, Marathi, Rasian, Chinese, Telugu

Educational Qualification: B.A./B.A.(Hons.) of 3 years duration with PG diploma/advanced diploma in concerned subject with minimum 50% marks aggregate in both B.A. and Diploma levels.

Course Duration: 2 Years

Name of Course: M.A. in History of Art

Educational Qualification

  • B.A./B.A.(Hons.) of 10+2+3 pattern with minimum 50% marks aggregate in all subject except optional subject which do not contribute in total.
  • Candidate should have hons. subject at B.A. level among History of Art/Ancient Indian History & Culture/Ancient Indian History & Archaeology/ Drawing & Painting.

Course Duration: 2 Years

Name of the Course: M.A. in Economics, Political Science, Sociology, History++, Psychology**

Educational Qualification: B.A./B.A.(Hons.)/B.Sc./B.Sc. (Hons.) of 3 years duration securing minimum 50% marks aggregate. The subject in which candidate is seeking admission should be at graduation level.

Note:

++ Candidate having B.A/B.A.(Hons.) degree in Ancient History is not eligible for admission in M.A. in History but can apply for M.A. in AIHC & Arch in Faculty of Arts.

**Candidate having B.Sc./B.Sc. (Hons.) with Psychology is eligible for admission in M.Sc. in Psychology.

Duration of the Course– 2 Years

Name of the Course: M.A. in Pali

Educational Qualification: B.A./B.A. (Hons.) in Pali/Buddhist studies of 3 years pattern with minimum 50% marks aggregate.

Course Duration- 2 years

Faculty of Commerce

Name of the course– M.Com

Educational Qualification: B.Com./B.Com.(Hons.) of 3 years pattern with minimum 50% marks aggregate.

Course Duration- 2 Years

Institute of Science

Name of the Course: M.Sc. in Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Computer Science#, Geography, Psychology, Home Science

Educational Qualification

  • B.Sc./B.Sc.(Hons.) in concerned subject with minimum 50% marks aggregate.
  • However, for M.Sc. in Botany/ Zoology, a candidate must Chemistry as one of the subjects at the Graduate level. Similarly, for M. Sc. in Statistics, a candidate must have Mathematics as one of the subjects at the Graduate level.

Note:

# Candidate must have studied Computer Science at graduation level (not Computer Applications, Information Technology, etc. as its place).

Course Duration: 2 Years

Name of the Course: M. Sc. in Biochemistry

Educational Qualification

  • B.Sc./B.Sc. (Hons.) in Biochemistry of three years duration with at least 50% marks OR
  • B.Sc.(Hons.) in Botany/Chemistry/Zoology or B.Sc. (Life Science/Bioscience) of three years pattern with minimum 50% marks.

Course Duration: 2 Years

Name of the Course: M.Sc. (Tech.) in Geophysics

Educational Qualification: B.Sc./B.Sc. (Hons.) of 3 years pattern with at least 50% marks aggregate in science subject with Physics, Maths and one more subject.

Course Duration: 3 Years

Institute of Medical Sciences

Name of the Course: M.Sc. in Health Statistics

Educational Qualification: B.Sc./B.Sc.(Hons.) under at least 10+2+3 pattern with minimum 50% marks aggregate in the science subject. Statistics must be one of the subject in B.Sc./B.Sc.(Hons.).

Course Duration – 2 Years

Faculty of Visual Arts

Name of Course: MFA in Painting, Plastic Arts, Applied Arts, Pottery & Ceramics, Textile Design

Educational Qualification: B.F.A. in the concerned subject (10+5 or 10+2+4 pattern) with minimum 50% marks aggregate.

Course Duration: 2 Years

Faculty of Education

Name of the Course: M.Ed. (Master of Education)

Educational Qualification: B.A. B.Ed./B.Sc. B.Ed./B.Ed. B.El.Ed./D.El.Ed. with UG/PG with 50% marks aggregate

Course Duration- 2 Years.

Faculty of Arts

Name of the Course: M.A. in Mass Communication

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in any stream with 10+2+3 pattern securing at least 50% marks aggregate OR
  • PG degree in any subject with 50% marks in both Graduation and Post-graduation level.

Course Duration: 2 Years

Name of the Course: M.A. Museology

Educational Qualification: M.A. in History of Art/Ancient Indian History, Sanskrit, Culture & Archaeology with at least 50% marks in the aggregate after Graduation under at least 10+2+3 pattern.

Course Duration: 2 Years

Faculty of Law

Name of the Course: LL.M. (Master of Laws)

Educational Qualification: LL.B. of three years duration after graduation under 10+2+3 pattern or LL.B. of five years duration under 10+2+5 pattern with minimum 50% marks aggregate as recognized by Bar Council of India.

Course Duration: 2 Year

  • Check your eligibility as per the concerned course as eligibility criteria are different for each course.
  • Eligible for appearing in the entrance test does not mean that candidate is eligible for admission. Candidate must qualify the entrance test.
