Pre Matric Scholarships Scheme for Minorities 2020 -21

The Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India is the regulatory body, which invites application forms from class 1 to 10 students of minority communities who are seeking Pre Matric Scholarship for Minorities. This particular scheme is aimed to encourage parents belonging to minority communities to send their kids to school. Under this scheme, financial assistance has been provided to the eligible candidates. Empowerment through education and upliftment of the socio-economic conditions of minority communities is an objective of this scheme.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students from class 1 to class 10 can apply.
  • They must have secured minimum 50% marks in the last final exam.
  • The family income of applicants should not be more than 1 lakh per year from all sources.
  • Applicants must belong to the minority community (Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Zoroastrians/Parsis)

Benefits under this scholarship

  • Admission Fee for Class 6 to 10: Rs.500/- per annum (both Hosteller and Day Scholar)
  • Tuition Fee for class 6 to 10: Rs.350/- per month (both Hosteller and Day Scholar)
  • Maintenance Allowance for class 1 to 5: Rs.100/- per month for 10 months in an academic year (Day Scholar)
  • Maintenance Allowance for class 6 to 10: Rs.600/- per month (for Hosteller) and Rs.100/- per month (for Day Scholar) for 10 months in an academic year.

How to apply for Pre Matric Scholarship for Minority?

The eligible candidates as per the abovementioned criteria can fill an online application form. The guidelines for submitting application form are as below:

  • Visit the official website of the National Scholarship Portal i.e. https://scholarships.gov.in/.
  • Click on the ‘New Registration‘ link on the homepage.
  • Read all the instructions carefully and select the undertaking and continue.
  • Candidates have to provide name, father name, contact details like mobile number & e-mail ID, date of birth, select State, Scholarship Category (Pre Matric), Type of Scheme (Scholarship Scheme) etc. information in the form.
  • Now, provide the bank details including Bank Account Number, Name of Bank, IFSC Code.
  • Then Select Aadhar or Bank Account Number as identification details and then click on the “Register” button.
  • An OTP will be sent on a mobile number for authentication.
  • Now login with the application ID and password and complete further process.
  • Candidates must be careful while making entries in the form as the application form cannot be corrected later.
  • Candidates should not fill more than one application form as multiple applications may be rejected.
  • Take the printout of the application form for future references.

Documents required for Pre Matric Scholarships Scheme for Minority 2020-21?

  • Domicile certificate of the applicant
  • Self-attested community certificate
  • Self-attested copy of last academic year marks sheet.
  • Aadhar Card Copy
  • Family income certificate issued by the concerned authority in State/UT Government.
  • Passbook of Student’s bank account or joint account with parents.

Selection Procedure

Fresh: Candidate’s financial condition will be considered rather than marks secured in the previous exam. In a specific case, if marks of two candidates and their family income are the same then Date of Birth will be considered and senior one will be granted the scholarship.

Renewal: The renewal of scholarship will be considered only when the candidate obtained at least 50% marks in the previous class exam in the same course and institute/college.

Terms and Conditions

There will be 30% of the total seats reserved for female applicants. However, in case of non-availability of female candidates, seats will be transferred to male applicants.
