MAT Exam Pattern 2018: Candidate who are looking for appearing in the upcoming MAT exam must be aware about the MAT exam pattern and syllabus of the exam. MAT Exam Pattern 2018: Information at a Glance

Candidates desirous to appear in the MAT 2018 exam should check the MAT exam pattern in order to qualify the exam. The important highlights in respect of MAT exam pattern 2018 are as under:

  • Mode of Exam: The MAT examination is conducted offline as online mode. Candidate can choose any one of the options either Offline Mode (Pen and Paper Based Test or Online Mode (Computer Based Test) for appearing in the MAT 2018 examination.
  • Exam Duration: The MAT exam will be of 2.30 hour.
  • Number of Questions: Total 200 questions will be asked in the exam.
  • Type of Questions: The paper will consist of multiple choice questions.
  • Subject Section: There will be five sections as Data Analysis & Sufficiency, Mathematical skills, Intelligence & Critical Reasoning, Indian & Global Environment and Language comprehension. Each section will consist of 40 questions.
  • Marking Scheme: Each question will carry 1 mark and for every correct response, 1 mark will be given.
  • Negative Marking: Negative marking is applicable and for each wrong attempt, 0.25 mark will be deducted.

MAT Exam Pattern 2018: Important Highlights

  • Candidate will have options to choose examination mode as per wish. In case of online mode, exam will be held on computer and in offline mode, exam will be held manually on Pen and Paper based exam.
  • Applicant should carry pen, pencil and eraser to darken the circle in OMR sheet.
  • There is no separate time limit assigned for different section, candidate have to attempt paper in 2.30 hour.
  • Candidate can appear in any MAT exam as the examination held four times in a year.
  • It is very important to go through exam pattern if candidates is serious enough to crack the exam.
  • Candidates have to mark only one response, more than one response will not be considered.
  • Be very careful while darkening the circle and the answer sheet should be clean.
  • Candidates are recommended to solve previous year exam to have an idea about exam.

Mat Syllabus 2018: Detailed Information

The syllabus of the MAT exam divided into five section and each section has some important subject and chapter from where questions will be asked. The detailed section wise information is explained below.

Data Analysis and Sufficiency

In this section questions will based on Input/ Output analysis, Coding/Decoding, Direction Sense, Data Arrangement, Different Shapes and Blood relations etc. Generally the questions are set in way to judge candidate’s critical thinking and analytical ability.

Mathematical Skills

The questions will include from Arithmetic, Geometry and Business Mathematics. In general candidate must prepare on basis of syllabus of 12th and graduation standard. Intelligence and Critical Reasoning

In this section, questions will covered the topic like Family tree, Strong Arguments and Weak Arguments, Puzzles, Visual reasoning, Series, Numeric grid, Pie Chart, Critical Reasoning, Statement Conclusions, Graphs representing Area, Coding & Decoding, Syllogisms, Multi-dimensional arrangement Blood Relations and Calendars etc. These questions are asked to check the intelligence and reasoning ability of the candidate.

Language Comprehension

This section of Language Comprehension is designed to check the knowledge of candidate in respect of language. The important topics under this section are “Fill In the Blanks, Syllogisms, Analogies, Different usage of same word, Contextual usage, Antonyms, Sentence completion, Sentence correction, Jumbled paragraphs, Foreign language words used in English, Idioms and Phrases, One word substitution, Active voice and Passive Voice” etc.

Indian and Global Environment

Generally questions will be based on the topics such as Current affairs, Business, World Records, Famous awards and Prizes, Books and Authors, Punch line of companies, History, International Organisation, Important Quotations, Social issues, Geography, Sports, Finance, Major Corporate news, Automobiles, Entertainment, Politics, Science etc. Candidate must read current affairs and General Knowledge.
