JNU Eligibility Criteria 2020

Name of the Course Eligibility Criteria
BA (Hons.) (1st Year) Qualifying Exam: 12th or equivalent examination passed from a recognized institute/board.

Qualifying Marks: Candidates must score at least 45% marks in the qualifying exam.

Minimum Age Limit: Age of the candidate should be at least 17 years as on 01.10.2020.

BA (Hons.) (2nd Year) in German Qualifying Exam: 1st year of Bachelor Degree from a recognized university.

Qualifying Marks: Must score at least 50% marks in the qualifying exam.

BA (Hons.) (2nd Year) other than German Qualifying Exam: 1st year of Bachelor Degree from a recognized university.

Qualifying Marks: Must obtain at least 45% marks in the respective exam.

Minimum Age Limit: Age of the applicant should be at least 18 years as on 01.10.2020.

MA in English/Politics/ Linguistics/ German/ Arts & Aesthetics

Qualifying Exam: A bachelor degree from any recognized university.

Qualifying Marks: Applicant must secure at least 50% marks in the qualifying exam.

MA in Economics

Qualifying Exam: One who possess Bachelor Degree (with 50% marks in aggregate) in following subjects will be eligible:

  • Mathematics (Hons.) with Economics as a subsidiary subject OR
  • Statistics (Hons.) with Mathematics and Economics as subsidiary subjects OR
  • Economics (Hons.) with Mathematics as a subsidiary subject OR
  • Having any other bachelor degree with Economics & Mathematics (securing 60% marks).
MA in Sociology/ Geography/Sanskrit

Qualifying Exam: Candidates should possess a Bachelor Degree from a recognized university.

Qualifying Marks: Candidates must obtain a minimum 45% marks in the graduation.

MA in Philosophy /Political Sciences Qualifying Exam: Bachelor Degree with minimum 50% marks in Social sciences.

OR
Bachelor Degree with minimum 55% marks in science and technology stream.

MCA

Qualifying Exam: Candidates having a bachelor degree in any stream from a recognized university will be eligible.

Qualifying Marks: Must secure at least 55% marks in the qualifying examination.

M.Sc Qualifying Exam: One who possesses a bachelor’s degree (B.SC or B.Tech or equivalent) from any recognized university will be eligible.

Qualifying Marks: Should score minimum 55% marks in the qualifying exam.

M.Tech/Ph.D.

Qualifying Exam: Postgraduate degree in Computer Science or Mathematics or Statistics or Operational Research or in any branch of Science OR

Undergraduate degree in any branch of Engineering OR

MCA degree holder will be eligible.

Minimum Qualifying Marks: Should have at least 55% marks in the qualifying exam.

Ph.D. (Direct Admission)

Qualifying Exam: Pass 2-year M.Phil degree or Pass 1-year M.Phil degree with one-year research experience.
OR
Pass Master’s degree/BE/B.Tech & having at least 2-year research experience.

Qualifying Marks: At least 55% marks should be there in the qualifying examination.

M.Phil/Ph.D & Ph.D (Through JRF) Candidates should have passed M.Sc in concerned subject.

One who have qualified for the examination for a fellowship through a national level written test, i.e. JRF category under CSIR/UGC National Eligibility Test (NET)-JRF, DBT-JRF (Category-I), ICMR-JRF, INSPIRE Fellowship, Ayush Fellowship, Bioinformatic National Certification (BINC) examination (conducted by DBT) or any other fellowship awarded from Government of India.
