CLAT Syllabus 2020
We can divide CLAT 2020 syllabus in five section where each section has various component. These section consist of English Comprehension, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Mathematics, Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning. Candidates should focus on important topics of each section. Check section wise details below:
Section 1: English including Comprehension
English Vocabulary: This section includes synonyms, antonyms and analogies etc.
English Proficiency: Preposition, Fill in the blanks, one word substitution, idioms and phrases, sentence improvement, rearranging of sentence including jumbled sentence etc.
Error Finding: Questions will be based on spelling mistakes, sentence error, similar words, use of preposition and sentence improvement with correct word.
English Comprehension: This part includes questions on Paragraph, understanding of para. You need to answer question based on given para.
Section 2: General Knowledge and Current Affairs
In this section, question will be based on recent happening to check candidate’s awareness. Candidates should also have good command over the subjects like social science, science, computer sciences, technology, legal affairs, sports, history, geography, popular books and author etc.
Section 3: Mathematics
This section is prepared to check applicant’s quantitative aptitude or numerical ability. Question will consist of 10th standard mathematics including chapters like HCF & LCM, Percentage, Profit & Loss, Area, Volumes, Interest, Ratio & Proportion, Number Systems, Series, Simplification, Average, Square Roots and Fraction & Decimals etc.
Section 4: Legal Aptitude
- Candidate’s interest in law, research aptitude and problem solving ability will be checked in this section.
- Applicant’s mental awareness will be checked and questions generally related to legal propositions and set of facts satisfying the propositions.
- These propositions may be true or not, candidates have to answer accordingly after analysing questions.
- Also read International Law, Constitution of India, Criminal Law, Family Law, Contracts and Torts etc.
Section 5: Logical Reasoning
It is a test of candidate’s aptitude and thinking ability. This section will include questions on Logical Links, Patterns, Number Series, Number Test, Relationship Test, Ranking Test, Classification, Distance & Direction, Analogy Test, Shapes, True and False, Statement Assumptions & Arguments and Conclusions etc.
CLAT Exam Pattern
The applicants must understand the CLAT syllabus 2020 and check all the crucial information with regard to the examination pattern. Check following information with regard to the exam pattern:
- Exam will be of 2.00 hours duration.
- Paper will consist of total 200 multiple choice questions.
- Language of paper will be English only.
- Each question will carry one mark.
- Negative marking is applicable and 1/4th mark will be deducted for every wrong attempt.
