CLAT 2022: Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is the most common entrance exam among the students seeking admission in LAW undergraduate and postgraduate courses in different National Law Universities of the Country. CLAT is a national level law entrance exam. The exam is conducted on a rotational basis by 18 National Law Universities. Interested candidates can apply for the CLAT 2022 exam from the 1st week of January 2022 onward. Eligibility Criteria

All the aspirants should know that before submitting CLAT 2022 application form, you need to check the eligibility criteria first. Candidates should meet all the eligibility criteria as prescribed. Check the following UG/PG eligibility criteria in respect of CLAT:

For Undergraduate Courses

  • The candidate should be completed the intermediate (10+2) exam with minimum 45% marks aggregate in the case of the Unreserved Category.
  • Candidates belonging to SC/ST category must have secured 40% marks in the qualifying exam i.e. Intermediate (10+2).
  • Those who are appearing in the qualifying examination will also be eligible subject to the outcome of the result.
  • To appear in CLAT 2022 exam, the age of the candidates shall not exceed 20 years as of 1st July 2022 in case of all Unreserved Category and 22 years for SC/ST candidates.

For Postgraduate Courses

  • Applicants should have completed LL.B or any equivalent exam from a recognized university.
  • Candidates must secure at least 55% marks aggregate in case of candidates belonging to Unreserved Category.
  • SC/ST candidates must obtain 50% marks aggregate to be qualified.
  • Those who are pursuing the qualifying exam i.e. LL.B will also be eligible subject to submission of the final result within the specified time frame.
  • There is no upper age limit fixed for Postgraduate Courses.

CLAT 2022 Application Form

The following guidelines will be helpful to the candidates while submitting CLAT Application Form. Candidates are suggested before filling up an online form, go through the instructions mentioned below:

  • The CLAT 2022 application form can be submitted via online mode only.
  • Based on the previous year CLAT notification, it is expected that the application form would be accessible from January 2022 onward.
  • Candidates need to register online first, then fill all the mandatory fields in the application form carefully.
  • The details provided by the candidates should be true.
  • Applicants will receive a login ID and password in their registered e-mail ID.
  • Candidates also need to upload scanned photograph and signature in the space provided. You also need to upload self-attested copies of relevant certificates in the space given.
  • Give your preferences among all 18 NLU’s at the time of filling up the application form.
  • Make a payment of the application fee to complete the application process.
  • Check the entire application form before going to click on submit button.
  • There is no need to send the hard copy of the application form via post.

Application Fee

  • Candidates belonging to General/OBC/SAP and any other category need to pay Rs.4000/- as an application fee.
  • SC/ST candidates are required to pay Rs.3500/-
  • Applicants can make payment through online mode using Internet Banking and Debit/Credit Card. The bank transaction fee is not included in the application fee.

CLAT Exam Pattern

You must know the exam pattern if you are serious enough to clear the examination and want to take admission law degree courses. For Undergraduate Course

  • The CLAT examination will be held in online mode.
  • Paper will consist of 200 multiple-choice questions.
  • The duration of the CLAT exam will be 2.00 hours.
  • Each question will carry 1 mark.
  • There will be negative marking and each wrong attempt will result in the eduction of 0.25 marks as a penalty.

For Postgraduate Course

  • The CLAT exam is an online entrance test.
  • The question paper will contain 150 multiple-choice questions.
  • Every question will carry 1 mark.
  • Negative marking will be applicable and there is a penalty of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.
  • The duration of the exam will be 2.00 hours.

How to Prepare for CLAT

Candidates should know that a large number of applicants appears in the CLAT exam every year. Therefore, selecting eligible candidates among all applicants is a challenging job and in order to do so, the difficulty level of the exam is significantly high. Candidates should follow the proper strategy to clear the exam. You can check the following preparation tips which will definitely help you during the entrance test:

  • First of all, make a subject-wise timetable for routine study and strictly follow the routine.
  • Prepare notes of the important topics on different subjects so that you can use them later to remind things.
  • Give more time to your weak subject and never skip your study.
  • Read daily newspapers for current affairs knowledge.
  • Also, collect some good books and sample papers and accordingly prepare yourself.
  • Solve previous year question papers to know examination pattern and difficulty level of questions. Solving mock tests will be helpful.
  • Candidates should practice time management so that it can work during exams.
  • Do not attempt questions blindly as there is negative marking. Hence, solve easy questions first then go for other questions but do not reply without knowing the answer.

CLAT Syllabus

  • The candidate must check the syllabus from the official information bulletin and accordingly start preparation for CLAT 2022 exam.
  • The UG syllabus will include English Comprehension, General Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics, Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning.
  • However, CLAT 2022 PG Syllabus will include Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence and other subjects like Contract, Criminal Law, Torts, International Law, Human Rights and Environment Law.

CLAT 2022 Admit Card

  • The admit card for CLAT 2022 entrance exam will be available on the official website.
  • Candidates can download the admit card from the website probably in the month of April 2022.
  • There will be no other way to get the admit card.
  • Information regarding the venue of the exam, exam date, exam duration and exam shift will be there on admit card.
  • Must carry admit card along with identity proof on the day of examination.

CLAT 2022 Answer Key

The competent authority will publish the answer keys of the CLAT 2022 exam after its completion. Candidates can get the same by downloading it. Answer keys will be helpful to check the answers given during the exam. Candidates will be able to make a rough idea about their results.

  • The Result of the CLAT 2022 exam will be available probably in the month of May 2022.

  • Meritorious candidates will receive an invitation to appear in the counselling process.

CLAT Counselling 2022

All the successful candidates who qualify for the entrance test and will secure their name on the merit list will have to go through the counselling process. The counselling process will commence most probably in the month of June 2022. Candidates have to pay the necessary counselling fee. There will be four rounds of counselling.
