UGC NET Eligibility Criteria 2021: Interested candidates who are looking for appearing in the UGC NET 2021 exam should check the eligibility requirements before making application form. NTA UGC NET 2021 Notification: Application Started

  • The National Testing Agency has released the UGC NET 2021 exam notification on its official website. 
  • The application form is available online from 2nd February 2021. 
  • Interested candidates can apply online till last date of application form i.e. 2nd March 2021. Click here to check the application form details.
  • UGC NET 2021 exam is scheduled to be held from 2nd May to 17th May 2021.

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria 2021

All the interested candidates who are preparing for UGC NET 2021 exam are recommended to ensure your eligibility first and then go ahead to make an online application. Check the UGC NET eligibility criteria 2021 as per the following information:

Age Criteria

  • Candidate’s age for Junior Research Fellowship should not exceed 30 years as on 01.01.2021.
  • Woman candidate and reserved category (SC/ST/OBC/PWD) candidates will be provided relaxation up to 5 years.
  • Those who possess L.L.M. Degree will get three years of relaxation in age.
  • There is no age limit for appearing in the UGC NET Exam in the case of Assistant Professor.

Academic Qualification

  • Candidate must hold a master’s degree or equivalent exam from the UGC recognized universities/institutions.
  • He/ she should have obtained the minimum 55% marks in the qualifying exam.
  • Candidates belonging to the reserved category such as OBC/SC/ST/PWD should score 50% marks in the qualifying exam to be qualified.
  • Those who are appearing in the final year of the post-graduation exam will also be eligible to appear in the test subject to the condition that they should qualify the exam as per the above criteria.
  • These candidates have to complete their post-graduate degree within two years from the date of UGC NET result with the required percentage, otherwise, they shall be considered as disqualified.
  • Candidates having Ph.D. degree whose post-graduate examination had been completed will get 5% relaxation (50% instead of 55%) in aggregate marks for appearing in NET.
  • It is recommended that applicants should appear in the subject of their post-graduation degree only.
  • Candidates having PG diploma/certificate awarded by Indian University/Institute or foreign degree/diploma/certificate by foreign university/institute should ascertain equivalence of their degree/diploma/certificate with PG degree recognized by Indian Universities from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi (at www.aiuweb.org)

Note: Candidates are not required to send any certificates/documents in support of eligibility and printout of the Application Form or Confirmation Page to the NTA.

UGC NET 2021 Eligibility Criteria: Important Instructions

  • Candidates must check eligibility criteria first and ensure your eligibility as per the eligibility criteria prescribed by the National Testing Agency and proceed for making online application form.
  • More than one application form will not be considered.
  • NTA may change the date of examination without giving an explanation. Candidates should keep checking the official website for any updates.
  • If any candidates failed to appear in the exam due to lack of knowledge or information, NTA will not be responsible.
  • Appearing in the examination does not mean that the candidate is eligible to become JRF or Assistant Professor. Candidature will be provisional.
  • Candidates have to keep ready all the educational documents for ready reference.
  • Candidates seeking relaxation under reserve category should provide the relevant certificate.
  • No grievances will be addressed once the result is declared.
  • National Test Agency (NTA) is the competent authority and its decision shall be final in all matters.
