SBI PO Exam Pattern 2021: The State Bank of India conducts a recruitment exam each year for filling up of the vacant posts of Probationary Officer. SBI PO recruitment drive will consist of Preliminary Exam, Main Exam, and followed by Group Discussion & Interview. The selection of candidates depends on overall performance in the exam. The aspirants who are going to appear in SBI PO 2021 Recruitment Exam should have basic information about the exam such as exam pattern, eligibility criteria, and selection procedure, etc. It is always beneficial to have information prior to the exam.

SBI PO Exam Pattern 2021

The candidates should know that the SBI PO 2021 exam will be completed in three Phases i.e. Preliminary Exam and Main Exam followed by Group Discussion & Interview. Candidates can check Phase wise SBI PO exam pattern as under:

Phase-I: SBI PO Preliminary Exam

  • The SBI PO preliminary exam will be held online at various centre throughout the Country.
  • The duration of exam will be 1.00 hour.
  • Question paper will consist of 100 questions from the sections as mentioned above.
  • All the questions will be objective type in nature where candidates have to mark one option among four choices given.
  • Each question will carry 1 mark.
  • Negative marking is applicable in the exam and as a result, 1/4th marks will be deducted for the incorrect response.
  • Candidates should achieve qualifying marks in each sections of the paper.
  • Questions will be bilingual i.e. Hindi and English except English language section.

Phase II: SBI PO Main Exam

The SBI PO main exam will consist of objective type test of 200 marks and descriptive test for 50 marks. Both Objective and Descriptive Tests will be held online at designated centres. Candidates have to type on the computer. Immediately after completion of the Objective test, Descriptive Test will start.

  • The objective type test will be of 3.00 hours duration including 4 Sections.
  • Each section will have a different time duration as mentioned in the table above to complete the test.
  • Candidates need to qualify each section of the test hence one must score the passing marks set by Bank.
  • Total 155 questions of 200 marks will be there in the exam.

II. Descriptive Test

The descriptive test will consist of an English language test including Letter Writing & Essay. The duration of the descriptive test will be 30 minutes. This section will be of 50 marks. It is also an online test where candidates need to type the answer on the computer within the specified time limit. Candidate should obtain qualifying marks in this section also. The descriptive test paper will be evaluated for those candidates who have obtained qualifying marks in the Objective Test.

Negative Marking for both Preliminary and Main Exam

Candidates must know that there will be the penalty for the wrong attempt in the objective test in both the Prelims and Main exam. 1/4th marks for each wrong answer will be deducted from the correct answer. No marks for the question left blank and also no penalty for that question. Candidate must be aware while attempting the question paper. Do not answer the question blindly because it will cost you. Solve easy questions first then go for other questions.

Phase-III: Group Discussion and Interview

  • Candidates who will qualify the main exam, will be called for appearing Group Discussion & Interview.
  • The Group Discussion will be of 20 marks and interview will be of 30 marks.
  • Candidates also need to obtain qualifying marks in this section as decided by Bank.
  • OBC Candidates must submit an OBC certificate containing the ‘Non-Creamy Layer’ clause at the time of the GD & Interview. Those who will not submit the certificate in the desired format will not be considered for GD& Interview in any case.

Selection Procedure

The competent authority will prepare a merit list on the basis marks obtained by candidates in Main Examination and Group Discussion & Interview. The Preliminary exam is qualifying in nature only. Candidates have to qualify both Main Exam and GD & Interview separately. Those who will secure higher rank or cut off marks in merit list as set by the bank will be considered for final selection. The bank will publish the final list of selected candidates on its official website as well as Employment News/Rozgar Samachar. Candidate can obtain the same from the website.
