Q1. What is the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test)-UG?

A. NEET-UG is an entrance exam through which admission in 100% seats of MBBS/BDS will be done. NEET score is valid for all Medical/Dental colleges which are running with the approval of Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India except institutions establish through an Act of parliament i.e. AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry. Aspirants who want to pursue medical UG course (MBBS/BDS) must go through NEET.

Q2. Who can appear in NEET-UG 2021-22 exam?

A. An Indian citizen, NRIs (Non-Resident Indians), OCIs (Overseas Citizen of India), PIOs (Persons of Indian Origin) and Foreign Nationals can also apply for NEET-UG 2021. NRIs, OCIs, PIOs and Foreign Nationals should have valid documents as detailed in the information bulletin for applying online.

Q3. What are the minimum eligibility criteria for NEET UG 2021?

A. Interested candidates who want to appear in NEET-UG 2021 exam should have completed 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English subjects. He/she should have obtained at 50% marks in case of unreserved candidates, 40% for OBC/SC/ST and PWD for 45%. The minimum age limit is 17 years to appear in NEET UG as on 31st December of the admission year. The upper age limit is 25 years (5 years relaxation for SC/ST/OBC category candidates). However, the Hon’ble Supreme court through its order directed CBSE to remove the upper age limit.

Q.4 How to apply online for NEET-UG 2021? Are there guidelines for filling up the application form?

A. Candidates have to apply online at the official of the National Testing Agency (NTA). Guidelines in this regard will be available in the official information bulletin. Q5. What is the role of the National Testing Agency for NEET-UG 2021?

A. National Testing Agency (NTA) is the exam conducting authority for NEET UG. Till 2018 NEET exam was conducted by the CBSE. After the conduct of NEET exam, NTA will declare result and provide All India Rank to the DGHS, New Delhi for counselling of 15% of All India Quota seats and also will provide the result to State counselling authorities and admitting institutions. Candidates can contact NTA for any help regarding the exam.

Q6. What are the age criteria for appearing in NEET-UG 2021?

A. The minimum age limit to appear in NEET exam is 17 years at the time of admission. The upper age limit for NEET-UG is 25 years as on the date of the exam with relaxation for 5 years to the SC/ST/ OBC candidates.

Q7. What is the crucial date for calculating the age of the candidates?

A. The crucial date for calculating the age for NEET is 31st December of the admission year.

Q8. Is it possible to take admission in MBBS/BDS degree course without appearing in NEET?

A. No. Candidates have to appear in NEET-UG for taking admission in MBBS/BDS courses. There is no other way to get admission in a medical UG course.

Q9. Can students take admission in AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry after qualifying NEET-UG?

A. No. AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry conducts separate exams for filling up its MBBS/BDS seats.

Q10. In how many languages, NEET UG 2021 will be conducted?

A. The NEET-UG 2021 exam will be held in 10 languages viz. Hindi, English, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Oriya, Tamil and Telugu. However, the Hon’ble Supreme Court directed CBSE to include the Urdu language also for conducting the NEET exam.

Q.11. Is it possible to change the language option once the form is submitted?

A. No, it is not possible to change the language option after the submission of the application form. Hence, be careful while opting the language options.

Q12. Any change in exam pattern and syllabus, please tell me?

A. The exam pattern and syllabus for NEET 2021 will be similar to the previous NEET exam. However, candidates should be aware of the updates if any in this regard. Keep checking the official website as well as this website for any updates.

Q13. What will be the duration of the NEET-UG 2021 Exam?

A. The NEET exam will be 03 hours duration from 10.00 AM to 1.00 PM. Candidates should reach the examination centre at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the exam. No student will be allowed to enter the examination hall after 10.00 AM.

Q14. How will NTA allot the examination centre?

A. The allocation of the examination centre is a computer-based process with no human intervention. There is no manual role of the National Testing Agency. However, the competent authority i.e. NTA has all rights reserved to allot any centre other than choice filled.

Q.15. Can I change my exam centre after the allotment of the roll number?

A. Not possible. In this regard, no request will be accepted.

Q.16. How to send a confirmation page of the application form along with enclosures to the NTA?

A. There is no requirement to send the printout of the confirmation page to the concerned authority i.e. NTA. However, candidates should preserve the printout of the confirmation page for future reference.

Q.17. What is the process of preparing a merit list?

A. The merit list is prepared on the basis of the candidate’s All India Rank. The DGHS will prepare a merit list for 15% All India Quota seats keeping in mind the reservation roster. Similarly, the other State authority will prepare the merit list on the basis of All India Rank and reservations criteria. 

Q.18. Is there any negative marking in NEET-UG 2021 exam?

A. Yes. Negative marking is applicable in the NEET UG exam. Each correct answer will be awarded by 4 marks and each wrong attempt will result in the deduction of 1 mark from the total score.

Q.19. How will I know my result of NEET-UG 2021?

A. You can check NEET UG 2021 results online at the official website of the National Testing Agency. The NEET-UG score will be valid for the current academic session i.e. 2021-22 only.

Q.20. Is there any provision for re-checking the answer sheet?

A. No, there is no such provision to re-check the answer sheet.
