AFCAT 2022 FAQs: What is AFCAT, difficulty level and more?

AFCAT (1) 2022 exam date have been announced. The AFCAT 2022 exam will be held in the month of February 2022. The candidates can access the AFCAT admit card from the first week of February 2022. Application form can be accessed online on the official website from 1st week of December 2022. Here in this article, we are giving information about some of the most common frequently asked questions about AFCAT-Air Force Common Admission Test.

1. What is AFCAT?

AFCAT is a short form of ‘Air Force Common Admission Test’ and also referred as Indian Air Force exam. It is a national level recruitment exam which is conducted by Indian Air Force to select commissioned officers to its all three branches i.e. Flying (Short Service Commission), Ground Duty-Technical and Ground Duty-Non-Technical (Permanent Commission). The exam held two times in a year generally in the month of February and August.  Eligible candidates can apply as per the examination schedule.

2. How to apply for AFCAT?

Guys if you are interested to join Indian Air Force and want to appear in AFCAT 2022 then you have to visit the official website of the Air Force i.e. https://afcat.cdac.in/AFCAT/. Before applying online, you must check eligibility criteria and ensure your eligibility for AFCAT. Go for registration by clicking on the concerned link and provide all the details as per application form. Be careful while entering details like name, date of birth, educational qualification, corresponding address, e-mail Id and mobile number etc. Candidates also need to upload scanned passport size photograph and signature in the prescribed specifications.  Submit your application form at the end and take the printout of the confirmation page for future reference.

3. What is EKT with regard to AFCAT?

EKT means Engineering Knowledge Test. It is also part of the AFCAT exam. The candidates who opt ground duty (technical) branch have to appear in AFCAT and EKT. It is a test of engineering graduates applying for technical branch through AFCAT.

4. What is Age Criteria for AFCAT?

In case of flying branch, candidate’s age must be within 20 to 24 years as 1st July 2022. However, the applicant’s age in case of Ground Duty (Technical and Non-technical), should lie within 20 to 26 years as on 1st July 2022.

5. What is the exam duration of AFCAT and EKT?

The AFCAT is two hours duration exam while EKT will be of 45 minutes. The question paper will consist of multiple choice questions on General Awareness, Numerical Ability, Reasoning & Military Aptitude and Verbal Ability in English.

6. How many candidates appear in AFCAT?

The number of applicants is not fixed in this exam. However, approximately two lakh candidates participate in this exam each year. Out of these applicants, only ten thousand receive call for AFSB procedure. After that, there is various procedure through which Air Force selects the eligible candidates for final selection. We suggest the applicants that never think about the number of applicants because it will not help you in any way. You must think about your preparation only. 7. What is the eligibility criteria for appearing in AFCAT?

The eligibility criteria for all three branches of the Indian Air Force are given below in detail:

Flying Branch: Candidates graduate with 60% marks in any stream with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level or candidates having B.E./B.Tech. degree (four-year duration) are eligible for AFCAT. Age of the candidates should be within 20 to 24 years as on 1st July 2022. Candidates should not be married.  

Ground Duty Technical: Candidates should have completed B. tech./BE (engineering degree) with four-year pattern. Age of the applicants should lie within 20 to 26 years at the time of commencement of course. Applicants below the age of 25 years should be unmarried.

Ground Duty (Non-technical) Branch: Candidates can apply as a graduate/postgraduate in any discipline. Both Men and Women can apply. Candidates below the age of 25 years must be unmarried. Candidate’s age should lie within 20 to 26 years.

8. How difficult is AFCAT?

The AFCAT is quite tough exam because Indian Air Force has set high standards in both Physical and Mental strength. Candidates have to prepare in a way that he/she can score high in the written exam to secure name in the merit list. You must focus on important topics of the syllabus and try to cover the maximum syllabus. Go through previous year question papers and assess the syllabus and difficulty level of questions. If you are not prepared then every exam is difficult and if you are prepared well then no exam is tough.

9. What is the exam pattern for AFCAT?

The AFCAT exam will be of 2.00 hours duration and EKT will be of 45 minutes. Total 100 questions will be there. Questions will be based on General Awareness, Numerical Ability, Reasoning & Military Aptitude, and Verbal Ability. All the questions will be objective type in nature. In case of flying branch, ground duty (non-technical) and candidates have to appear in AFCAT while ground duty-technical branch will consist of both AFCAT and EKT. It is very important to have an idea about exam pattern to crack the exam.

10. How to prepare for AFCAT 2022?

There is no shortcut trick to be prepared for this exam. It is simple and straight, all those candidates who are dreaming to join Indian Air Force must put their heart and soul in the study. The more you study the more you learn. Make a preparation strategy as per your convenience. Collect good study material including important books, solve previous year AFCAT papers, make timetable for study and take care of your health for better preparation.

11. What is the selection process of AFCAT?

The selection process includes written exam, Officer Intelligence Rating Test and Picture Perception and Discussion Test. Candidates have to clear each and every stage for final selection. Candidates also face Psychological Test, group test to check candidate’s interactive ability etc. This entire process is also referred to as SSB Interview. Candidates who qualify SSB/Interview will go through the medical test. In the end, the competent authority after assessing the performance of all candidates during the entire examination process including the written test followed by SSB interview will disclose the merit list. Accordingly, on the basis of the merit list, the selection process will be completed.

    So I can eligibal or not …
